Joy in a cup

It’s nice to have a little caffeine refreshment around while I’m blogging… and I smile every time I look down and see this particular cup:

It reads:

Marian retired. I’m in charge now!

This, of course, riffs off the “Marian the Librarian” character and song from The Music Man.

I love the connection to reel librarians, plus the slightly snarky yet independent and overall positive attitude of the message. And I even like the androgynous nature of the character design — there are awesome librarians out there, full stop, no matter the gender.

I offered one of these cups as a prize for one of the conference poster sessions I presented about reel librarians, and I liked it so much, I got one for myself!

This cup came from Cafe Press, but it looks like it’s not available anymore.
